Acupuncture can be invaluable during pregnancy as it provides a drug-free solution to many of the side-effects of pregnancy such as back pain, morning-sickness, constipation, heartburn, etc.
It can support the mother both physically and emotionally. This gives the mother the best experience, and allows her to nourish the growing baby as well as possible.
While the treatment may address issues such as pain and nausea, the treatment will also focus on the mother’s emotional well-being, with points used to calm the spirit, and quieten the mind. A relaxed mind reduces tension in the muscles and glands allowing the baby get the nourishment it needs.
From Week 36 on, the treatment can change to Birth Preparation. This is a specific protocol to support and condition the mother’s body to get it ready to deliver. It continues with weekly treatment sessions until the birth.
This protocol has been shown to reduce labour time, and reduce inductions and c-sections.
