Maureen has always had an interest in medicine and healing. She has worked as a personal assistant to a leading Oncology Professor at the Royal Marsden Hospital in the UK, which involved organising international conferences and presentations for the Leukaemia and Myeloma Unit.

On returning to Ireland she worked at the Mater Hospital in Dublin, managing clinics in the Cardiac Unit. She also worked as a medical secretary in a private MRI Clinic in Dublin attached to St Jame’s Hospital.
She was introduced to Oriental therapies when a friend recommended a treatment from Shane Murnaghan, in Dublin. Shane was affiliated with a training college in the UK, the Academy of Oriental Medicine, and taught a 2-year course in Tui Na and complementary therapies. Maureen took this course and graduated with a Diploma in Advanced Tui Na.

The course touched on Cranio-Sacral Therapy which Maureen found fascinating, and so she then attended further training by the Upledger Institute to qualify as a practitioner in Cranio-Sacral Therapy.
However, Maureen felt she was lacking the deep understanding of Oriental Therapies that comes with practising acupuncture, so she attended the College of Medical Acupuncture and TCM in Shannon, Co Limerick. This was a 3-year course. She successfully graduated with a Licentiate in Acupuncture, and then spent some time working at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China, gaining an understanding of how Oriental therapies successfully complement and integrate with western medicine.

She spent a year interning at an acupuncture clinic in Merrion Square, Dublin, gaining practical experience in acupuncture and clinic management. She then opened her first clinic in 2009. In 2015 she moved to Virginia and opened her clinic on the Main Street.
Maureen has also served on the board of the Acupuncture Council of Ireland.
Maureen had noticed an interest in using acupuncture to help facial enhancement as an alternative to drug therapies such as Botox. She attended a course on Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture by Paul Adkins in the UK and now offers what she calls “Notox” – no Botox!
Maureen continues to improve her knowledge of acupuncture, especially in fertility and pregnancy support, and pain relief attending courses and workshops by renowned international experts.
