Acupuncture is a gentle medical system that is used to diagnose and treat illness, prevent disease and improve well being. It originated in China more than 3,000 years ago and due to it’s proven effectiveness has been embraced throughout the world. Chinese Medicine seeks to treat the whole person.

For over 3000 years Traditional Chinese Medicine has promoted specialised treatment for women in pregnancy care and postpartum recovery. Today this care is becoming increasingly popular and used by acupuncturists and specially trained midwives in countries such as Denmark, England, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Sweden, and New Zealand where acupuncture is available in specialised antenatal clinics and maternity hospitals.

Major, large-scale traumatic events often don’t affect only those who survive them. The toll of these experiences can reverberate across generations.

Experts refer to this as intergenerational trauma, or secondary traumatization.

Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and although relatively new to the West the Chinese have been using points on the face to combat the signs of ageing and to help with various skin conditions for many years. It was in use as early as the Song Dynasty (960AD – 1279AD) when the Empress and Emperor’s concubines received Cosmetic Acupuncture.
